Hip joint is a Ball and socket joint. The Ball portion of the joint is represented by the head of the femur bone (Thigh bone) and the Socket is represented by the Acetabulum of the pelvis.
By definition ,total hip replacement is a surgery in which the head of the femur and the acetabulum is replaced with metallic implants.It is one of the most common and successful surgical procedures in Orthopedics.

Total hip replacement surgery is recommended in cases where the hip joint is severely damaged by arthritis, fracture, wear and tear or conditions which restrict and daily activities painful. Also, in cases where medication and other therapies don’t seem to be effective, a Total hip replacement surgery is advised.

Once you consult Dr Tarkik , he will examine you clinically and will prescribe the local part radiographs as part of hip replacement surgery protocol.
Once the diagnosis of the arthritis is made and decision for Total hip replacement is taken, the patients undergoes detail laboratory evaluation along with the consultation with physician, cardiologist and the anaesthetist. Once the optimization is done the patient will be posted for the surgery.
Before the day of surgery your limb is prepared with specialised solution .On the day of surgery again the specialised wash is given to the limb as a part of protocol made by Dr. Tarkik Amin. You will be given a dose of antibiotic.
The surgery usually takes around one to two hours.
After the surgery ,patient is kept in recovery room till the advice by Dr. Tarkik.
The physiotherapy and rehabilitation will be started on the very next day with specialised physiotherapists who works as per the instruction of Dr. Tarkik Amin.
Within 3-4 days, the patient can be discharged. On discharge, a detailed instruction is given which will ultimately help in achieving smooth recovery from the surgery. Even after discharge, the patient remain connected with Dr. Tarkik Amin and their queries are shorted out without any delay.
A 40 year male patient with bilateral AVN of hip had so much difficulty in walking because of severe deformity. He was operated by Dr. Tarkik Amin with stage wise total hip replacement. After the surgery ,the patient was advised for rigorous physiotherapy and then the result achieved was so satisfying for both patient and doctor.
A 50 year old patient with past history of trauma 20 years back came to consult Dr. Tarkik. He had complaints of severe pain with shortening of 3 cm. He had developed arthritis of the hip joint for which total hip replacement was performed. By surgery the patient was given a painless hip joint with equalised limb length. Patient was allowed to bear weight immediately after surgery from the second post operative day.
